Workshop on Strengthening Partnerships for Natural Capital in the GMS
Bagan, Myanmar 11th November 2014
This CEP technical workshop on strengthening partnerships to increase natural capital investments in the GMS brought together government and development partners to jointly discuss the merits and potential shape of a GMS Natural Capital Partnership.
Further consultations will continue through to the Fourth GMS Environment Ministers’ Meeting (EMM4) on 29 January in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmarat which the partnership is expected to be endorsed. Following EMM4, it is hoped that committed organizations will come together to agree on a plan and timeline to initiate the partnership, focusing on institutional arrangements and a set of initial activities that would begin by mid‐2015.
The meeting was immediately followed by the 3rd Task Force Meeting for the preparation of EMM4, and on the following day, 12 November, by the 9th Semi-annual Meeting of the Working Group on Environment.
