Environmental Impact Assessment Procedures Workshop
Yangon, Myanmar 26th July 2013
In continuation of the Core Environment Program’s support to strengthening Myanmar’s environmental safeguards system, a Stakeholder Consultation Workshop on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Procedures was held in Yangon on 26 July 2013.
The workshop brought together 150 delegates from the private and public sectors, nongovernmental organizations, civil society organizations, and local EIA consultants to meet, discuss, and provide insights on the new draft EIA procedures prepared by the Ministry of Environmental Conservation and Forestry (MOECAF).
CEP support to MOECAF and other sector ministries aims to establish a robust environmental safeguards framework and systems, comprising EIA procedures and technical guidelines, national environmental quality standards, and complemented by capacity building support.
