The Transport and Trade Facilitation Action Program for the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) provides advisory support and capacity building tofacilitate cross-border transport and trade in the GMS. The TTF-AP provides advisory support and capacity building tofacilitate cross-border transport and trade in the GMS. It is comprisedof four core areas:

  • expanding transport and traffi c rights alongGMS corridors;
  • simplifying and modernizing customs procedures,including transit systems in the GMS;
  • supporting enhancedtransport and logistics in the GMS; and 
  • strengthening capacitiesof sanitary and phytosanitary agencies in the GMS.

Border areas have historically been a source of conflict and strife in the Greater Mekong Subregion. Nowadays, with over 20 years of continuing peace and growing prosperity, border areas are focus points for countries in the subregion to work together. To this end, governments and their development partners are working hard to better connect the GMS through transport infrastructure, customs procedures, and border management.
